Lipari (Zip Code 98055) is an isle which belongs to archipelago of Eolie and administratively it makes part of the province of Messina. The municipality has 10.826 inhabitants and an area of 8.861 hectares for a population density of 122 inhabitants per square kilometre. It rises on a flat area along the coast and is 44 metres above sea-level. Main economic activities are agriculture, fishing, tourism and handicraft. Products mostly cultivated are olives, capers, almonds, dried fruit in general. Renowned is local wine "Malvasia". Main fish products are molluscs, shellfishes, tunny, swordfishes, anchovies and sardines. Very beautiful are besides drawings on cloth made by hand, clay masks and handmade earthenware.
